Do you have a bursary available for the Agent One-to-One service?
Thanks to donations from agents and authors, we are pleased to offer free Agent One-to-One Sessions through our monthly bursary scheme. To find out more and register your interest, please visit our Agent One-to-One bursary page. Am I eligible for the bursary?
The Agent One-to-One bursary is for low-income writers who are not currently represented by a literary agent. Due to agent availability, we regret that we are unable to accept bursary submissions of poetry, short story collections, screenplays or erotica.
Can I apply for the Agent One-to-One bursary alongside other bursaries/competitions?
Yes, you can apply for the Agent One-to-One bursary alongside other Jericho Writers bursaries and competitions. However, please note that you will not be selected to win more than one free Agent-One-to-One Session during any 12-month period. This includes any other competitions or bursaries organised by Jericho Writers, but does not include any giveaways by third parties or Agent One-to-One Sessions included in a course purchase.
Can I submit multiple bursary applications?
Due to limited availability, we can only accept one application per writer per 12-month period, and duplicate submissions will be disqualified.
Which genre should I select?
If your genre is not included in the application form, or if your project spans multiple genres, please pick the closest match and let us know more information in your summary. The only exception to this is if you are submitting poetry, short story collections, screenplays or erotica – due to limited agent availability, submissions in these genres are not eligible.
I have multiple projects; which one should I submit?
While we encourage you to submit an application using the project you would most like to discuss with an agent, successful applicants will be able to use their Agent One-to-One Session to receive feedback for any one project of their choice.
When will I hear about the outcome of my bursary application?
Each month, we will select one eligible applicant by random draw. If your application has been successful, you will receive an email from 121@jerichowriters.com by 5pm UK time (BST/GMT) on the last Monday of the month.
If you have not heard from us by 5pm on the last Monday of a given month, this means your application unfortunately has not been selected – but please note that eligible but unsuccessful entries will be automatically considered in future monthly draws.
What happens if my application is successful?
We will contact you by email by 5pm on the last Monday of the month if your application has been successful in that month's random draw. This email will include details of how to redeem your free session. We ask that you respond (by email or by redeeming your free session) within 14 days of this email being sent.
After redeeming your session, you will be able to book your Agent One-to-One Session using the normal booking process. For more information, please visit our Agent One-to-One Sessions page or the FAQs in our Help Centre.
Successful applications will be removed from the 'pool' upon selection, so your application will not be considered for future monthly draws.
What happens if my application is unsuccessful?
All eligible but unsuccessful applications will remain in the 'pool' for future draws. This means that you will automatically be considered for future monthly draws until you withdraw from the bursary or until your application is successful. You will not need to re-apply for the bursary to be considered in future draws.
Can I withdraw from the bursary?
Yes, please contact 121@jerichowriters.com if you would like to remove your application from the 'pool'. Withdrawn entries will no longer be considered in the monthly draws. Where can I find full terms and conditions?
The free sessions offered through this bursary are 15-minute phone calls, organised as part of our Agent One-to-One service. For more information, please visit our Agent One-to-One Sessions page or the FAQs in our Help Centre. Can I support the bursary scheme?
We are able to offer the Agent One-to-One bursary thanks to generous donations from agents and authors. If you would like to donate to the bursary fund so we can continue offering sessions to low-income writers, please contact 121@jerichowriters.com. Related Articles
