The Ultimate Start FAQS

The Ultimate Start FAQS

Who is this video course for?
The Ultimate Start is suitable for writers who are just getting started with a new project or want to develop a manuscript they’ve already begun work on.

Which genres are suitable for this course?
All fiction genres are suitable, including MG, YA, and Memoir/Auto-Fiction. Unfortunately, the course is not suitable for specialist non-fiction projects.

What will I learn in this video course?
In this course, you will learn how to nail your opening pages and make them as strong as they can possibly be. Across six lessons, taught by tutors from the Ultimate Novel Writing Programme and its little sister the Novel Writing Course, you will learn where to start your novel, how to grab the reader from the get go, and how to find that delicate balance between grounding and info-dumping. You can find more information about the upcoming lessons here.

Are there opportunities to receive feedback on this course?
This is a self-paced video course, in which you are encouraged to share your work in the designated forum for peer-to-peer feedback. If you are looking to receive personalised feedback from an expert, you can either take the Novel Writing Course or the Ultimate Novel Writing Programme. Some of our NWC and UNWP tutors also offer one-to-one mentoring. You can find out more about that here.

How can I sign up for the course?
This video course is free for Premium Members - just click the 'enrol now' button on the course page in order to access it.
Free Members can purchase the course for £99, or join as a Premium Member. You can also sign up for a free taster of lesson one to find out if the course is right for you.

How long will I have access to the course content?
If you join us as a Premium Member, you will continue to have access to the course videos, PDF guide, and forums for as long as you remain a Premium Member. If you purchase just this course, you will have access to the course content for 1 year from the date of your purchase.
