What is Self-Edit Your Novel?
Self-Edit Your Novel is our longest-running course, from which more than 100 alumni have gone on to publishing success. You’ll learn how to self-edit your manuscript, ensuring it’s submission-ready for agents or self-publishing, and master narrative drive, voice, plot, and story development.

What is included in the course?
Each week, there will be a detailed tutorial, imparting the tools on a particular topic, with exercises based on your own WIP, designed to show how to apply those tools to your own writing. You’ll also get personalised feedback on your work each week from your tutor and peers, so you’ll know exactly what’s working and what to fix.

Are there live calls included in the course?
There are no live webinars for this course. Each week, you will have access to a new, pre-recorded webinar with Debi, which you can watch at a time of your choosing. The tutor interaction consists of a high level of daily feedback and guidance via the platform forums, so we advise being as engaged as possible with these on a daily basis to get the most out of the course.

What support will be available to me?
You’ll get regular support from your tutor and course mates, who will offer constructive feedback on your work every week. You’ll be able to ask questions in forum discussions, and can reach out to the Jericho Writers team at any time if you need anything else. We’re always happy to help!

What feedback can I expect to receive during the course?
As a student on this course, you will receive peer-to-peer feedback on weekly assignments. Tutor Debi Alper will also provide detailed weekly feedback to help you shape specific sections of your novel, and will participate in forum discussions via the online learning platform.

What will I get from the course?
After completing the course, you will have:
  1. An action plan to create a final draft, ahead of submitting to agents or self-publishing.
  2. Key editing skills to apply to future manuscripts and writing projects.
