Who is this course suitable for?
This course is perfect for any author who is looking to take charge of their writing career and master the ins and outs of self-publishing. While it is not necessary to have a finished, polished manuscript in order to join this course, some of the writing assignments will be best suited to authors with a finished manuscript, so we do recommend this. The course is project-based and requires students to take the lead on their self-publishing journey; an eagerness to learn is ideal!
What genres is this course suitable for?
The course is suitable for all genres, including creative non-fiction, YA and middle grade. Younger children’s work might not be suitable, but Debbie will assess each book’s suitability during the
application process.
Is this course suitable for writers based outside of the UK?
Absolutely! We welcome writers from across the world. Please keep in mind that the live elements of the course will be held in the evening GMT/BST. However, all live calls will be recorded and can be watched back the following day on the learning platform.
Is the course learning platform easy to navigate?
We use an easy-to-navigate online teaching platform, which is incredibly user-friendly, so you’ll have no difficulty understanding what to do. You’ll also have access to the teaching and platform forum indefinitely, so your course friendships will long outlast the duration of the course. Of course, if you do need help at any stage, the Courses team will be on hand.
How many students will be on the course?
You will share your tutor with up to 9 other students, and work with your group closely throughout the course, in live calls and peer feedback activities.
What if I’m nervous about sharing my work?
We understand how daunting it can be to share your writing with others. The step-by-step structure and supportive feedback on this course will help you gain confidence as you go and prepare you for publishing your manuscript.
Is it really worth it?
