Meet Your Match

What is Meet Your Match?

Meet Your Match is a forum-based pitch event hosted by Jericho Writers. When the event is taking place, the event forums are available to Premium Members for free, with no additional purchase required.

Meet Your Match 2026 took place in March 2026 as part of Getting Published Month. For more information about Getting Published Month, please see our FAQs here.

Can I take part in Meet Your Match without being a Premium Member?

When run as part of Getting Published Month, the Meet Your Match event is available to Premium Members only.

How does Meet Your Match work?

During Meet Your Match, Premium Members are invited to share a short (20-50 word) elevator pitch in the dedicated event forum, and our team personally match each eligible pitch with a literary agent.

If you like your match, you can add them to your “To Query” list for your next round of submissions or book an Agent One-to-One session and have the opportunity to get personalised advice on your submission pack.

Agents will also be browsing pitches during the event and may comment or request submissions that catch their eye, giving you even more opportunities to get noticed.

Finally, our team will award the author of our favourite elevator pitch a free Agent One-to-One session, which they can redeem with the agent of their choice (subject to availability).

How many pitches can I send?

One pitch per person. You will be disqualified if you add in multiple pitches and none of your pitches will be taken into account. As much as we'd love to see everything you've been working on, we're a small team and we don't want to miss anyone out. If you have multiple pitches, we suggest you pick the one you would most like to be matched with an agent.

Can I submit a pitch for any genre?

If you’re submitting poetry, screenplays, short stories, satire or erotica, we might have trouble matching you with a suitable agent. Otherwise, submit away! Just be sure to clearly indicate the genre in your pitch – and avoid acronyms or abbreviations if you can, please.

I’ve already booked an Agent One-to-One with a different agent – can I still participate?

It’s great to hear you’re already taking steps to boost your submission pack! You’re more than welcome to send your pitch to us for Meet Your Match, and add another name to your agent shortlist for future queries.

Can I participate if I’m not from the UK?

Of course! We work primarily with UK and US literary agents, but we’re happy to find a match for you, no matter where you are in the world. Just keep in mind the opening and closing times for the competition (when these are announced) to ensure you don't miss your chance.

Is this a competition?

Sort of! We’ll be awarding the author of our favourite elevator pitch a free Agent One-to-One session, which they can redeem with the agent of their choice (subject to availability). So make sure to read up on how to make your pitch as strong as possible and see the related FAQ 'How do I write an elevator pitch?' for more guidance. Even if you don’t win, it’s worth taking part as you never know who might be watching…

Can I send a Townhouse Private Message to the agents or tag them in a comment?

Please don’t DM agents or the Jericho Writers team on Townhouse, as messages won’t be monitored or replied to. If you wish to contact Jericho Writers, please do so by email at info@jerichowriters.com.

If an agent requests material, how do I go about sending it to them?

If you receive interest from an agent and they ask you to send them your work (congratulations!), please contact the agent directly. The best way to do this is to search the agency website or AgentMatch and locate their submission guidelines. Some agents will have forms to use, while others will provide their email address. When you contact the agent, it's a good idea to mention Meet Your Match (e.g. in the email subject line or in your query letter) to remind them about the request they made.

Please do not contact Jericho Writers about any agent requests, following up, response times, lack of responses, etc. The agents taking part in Meet Your Match are not employed by Jericho Writers and as such we are unable to get involved in submission conversations.

I missed Meet Your Match – what can I do instead?

If you missed the live pitch session, don’t worry. We offer Agent One-to-One sessions year-round and our full list of agents is available here. Simply use the genres dropdown to filter the list, and make sure to read the full bios for more information about each agent’s wishlist. Take a look at our Agent One-to-One FAQs for more information.
