Who is Path to Publication for?

Who is this course suitable for?
This course is suitable for authors with a completed, edited manuscript ready to submit to agents. Path to Publication won‘t focus on the fundamentals of writing, but rather the steps that come after you‘ve finished your book. We recommend it to authors with a completed manuscript and an interest in traditional publishing, especially if you are either:
  1. Looking to ideally position yourself before querying literary agents.
  2. Familiar with the querying process but struggling to capture the attention of literary agents.
If you‘d like a course that focuses more on the writing of your novel, take a look at our Ultimate Novel Writing Programme.

What genres is this course suitable for?
All fiction genres are suitable for Path to Publication, including MG, YA, and Memoir/Auto-Fiction. Unfortunately, the course is not suitable for specialist non-fiction projects, as non-fiction book proposals will not be covered in the tutorial content. If you’re unsure whether your novel would be suitable, you can get in touch with the courses team at courses@jerichowriters.com.

Is this course suitable for writers based outside of the UK?
Whilst Path to Publication will focus on the UK publishing industry (for now!), that doesn’t mean it won’t still be useful. If you’d still like to learn the fundamentals of pitching your novel, crafting a convincing submission package and networking with agents, this course is for you. Writers based outside of the UK can also still submit to UK literary agents, making the industry knowledge you‘ll learn on the course indispensable.

Is the course learning platform easy to navigate?
We use an easy-to-navigate online teaching platform, which is incredibly user-friendly , so you’ll have no difficulty understanding what to do. You’ll also have access to the teaching and platform forum indefinitely, so your course friendships will long outlast the duration of the course. Of course, if you do need help at any stage, the Courses team will be on hand.

How many students will be on the course?
You will share your tutor with up to 14 other students, and work with your group closely throughout the course, in live calls and peer feedback activities.

What if I’m nervous about sharing my work?
We understand how daunting it can be to share your writing with others. The step-by-step structure and supportive feedback on this course will help you gain confidence as you go and prepare you for sharing your manuscript with agents.

Is it really worth it?
Any writing course is an investment in your future career as an author. It’s about building skills that you’ll hopefully use for years to come. If you’re committed to getting your novel out there, this course will help you navigate the world of traditional publishing, supporting you in developing the confidence and skills to craft a truly compelling submission package and pitch your work effectively.
